findbirthingcenters.com is an independent directory of 4,787 places to give birth across 51 US states — freestanding birth centers, hospital labor & delivery units, and midwife-run birth facilities, listed so expecting families can actually compare their options.

Where the data comes from

Listings are compiled from public map and business data, then filtered to genuine birth facilities — we remove unrelated clinics and businesses that clutter generic map searches for "birth center." On top of the listings, we mine each facility's own website and public parent reviews for the signals families care about: whether it's a freestanding birth center or a hospital maternity unit, water birth and tub availability, midwife-led care, accreditations, and whether the facility mentions taking insurance or Medicaid. We re-crawl the dataset on a rolling basis to catch facilities that close, move, or open.

We never invent facts about a facility. If a listing shows a badge or feature, it's because the facility's own listing, website, or parent reviews say so — and even then, offerings change, so treat badges as a starting point for your own questions, not a guarantee.

The important disclaimer

This is a directory, not medical advice, and a listing here is not a recommendation of any facility. We can't tell you which birth setting is right for your pregnancy — that's a conversation for you and your doctor or midwife. Freestanding birth centers generally serve low-risk pregnancies and maintain hospital-transfer plans; hospital L&D units handle all risk levels. Always confirm capabilities, insurance acceptance, and availability directly with the facility and your provider before making plans.
