Where to find Alternative Birth Services
What parents say
It truly does take a village. 🖤 Finding a provider to support you through your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey is so incredibly important. Finding a birth team that you bond with, that understands you and your needs; you’re more than just a name on a clipboard.
I had the pleasure of having Laura Hopper with alternative birth services as my midwife for the pregnancy and natural home water birth of my second child in 2016. Her team was so friendly, thorough, helpful, and caring. I was fully informed of everything and had a choice in all of my care.
A year ago today I was on bed rest not knowing that at 10:30 that night I would be going to the hospital. My birth plan didn’t go according to plan. However I am so Grateful for my Labor and Delivery team. I am so happy that I found the girls at Alternative Birth Services.
While I have not yet been fortunate enough to experience a birth with Laura and Deanna, I have known plenty of friends who have used Alternative Birth Services and had a wonderful experience.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Alternative Birth Services a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Their public listing categorizes them as midwife and alternative medicine practitioner, not a hospital maternity unit. Ask them directly where births take place and how they coordinate with hospitals, and confirm the details with your provider.
- Does Alternative Birth Services offer water birth?
- Water birth or birthing tubs come up in their public listing or reviews. Tub availability can change and eligibility depends on your situation, so confirm directly with the facility and your provider.
- Does Alternative Birth Services accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (435) 557-0575. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
