Where to find Changing Woman Initiative
What parents say
Changing Woman Initiative provides compassionate, culturally appropriate care for women and their families. The midwives are knowledgable, competent, caring, and very supportive. I highly recommend CWI for women's health, pregnancy, home birth, postpartum care, and beyond!
The entire team and network that I met at and through CWI was beyond amazing! I will forever praise and be grateful for them. The work they do is so important. I had THEE most beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing pregnancy and birth experience.
The Changing Woman Initiative provided me and my family all of the information and care needed for my pregnancy. Nicolle Gonzales is an amazing midwife, who listened to our wishes and made sure to give us all of the information we needed.
Coming from a small town, it's hard to find a clinic that is welcoming and, most importantly, safe. Claire Bettler was nice, calming, warm, and provided a sense of family during our visit. It brought a new meaning to womens health. A great place for indigenous mothers to be, mothers, or teens.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Changing Woman Initiative a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Changing Woman Initiative is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Changing Woman Initiative about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Changing Woman Initiative offer water birth?
- Water birth isn't mentioned in the public information we have for Changing Woman Initiative. If a birthing tub matters to you, ask the facility directly — options change, and our data may not capture everything they offer.
- Does Changing Woman Initiative accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (505) 660-6372 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
