Where Columbia Midwifery works
What parents say
1000/10 If you are considering a home birth I recommend scheduling a consultation with Jennifer ASAP! I came to Jennifer during the pandemic in 2020 as a scared 19 year old, 30 weeks pregnant, who had been rejected by every OB office in northeast Columbia.
I highly recommend consulting Jennifer O'Briant with Columbia Midwifery to see if she is the right fit for you on your birthing journey! I have worked with her for two births and she is incredibly caring and knowledgeable.
I cannot recommend Midwife Jennifer enough. I was nervous when I found out about my first pregnancy and after visiting with her to see if it would be a good fit for us, I was immediately at ease.
I cannot recommend Columbia Midwifery enough! I used them for both of my births and I am so thankful I did! The quality of care that both myself and my babies were given was outstanding. I felt like I was surrounded by friends…strong…capable and nurturing friends!
Frequently asked questions
- Is Columbia Midwifery a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Their public listing categorizes them as midwife and service establishment, not a hospital maternity unit. Ask them directly where births take place and how they coordinate with hospitals, and confirm the details with your provider.
- Does Columbia Midwifery offer water birth?
- Their own website mentions water birth or birthing tubs. Tub availability can change and eligibility depends on your situation, so confirm directly with the facility and your provider.
- Does Columbia Midwifery accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- Where does Columbia Midwifery work?
- They're a service-area practice based in Cayce, South Carolina — rather than a single facility address, they serve families across the area. Ask whether your location falls inside their coverage when you inquire.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (803) 341-5554 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
