Where to find First Memory Midwifery
What parents say
Being completely new to both pregnancy and the idea of a home birth, Chandra was everything I could have possibly hoped for and more from a midwife. We had just moved to the Duluth/Superior area and knew only a handful of people. Chandra became my confidant, encourager, and safe haven.
Chandra was the assistant midwife at my birth and she was wonderful! She has a very calm demeanor which helped me immensely even in the most intense moments of our home birth. When our baby was experiencing latch issues she went above and beyond and came back with our primary midwife a few days after birth to support.
Receiving care from Chandra and Maria made all the difference in our experience starting our family. I could go on and on about the quality of care they give. Being able to trust our providers so fully helped me have a successful and positive birth experience. PRICELESS!
Chandra took the time to answer all of my questions in depth. I had a specific idea of the environment that I birthed in and Chandra and her assistant at the time, Maria, both accommodated my requests to a T. I would love to have them for any future births.
Frequently asked questions
- Is First Memory Midwifery a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Their public listing categorizes them as midwife, not a hospital maternity unit. Ask them directly where births take place and how they coordinate with hospitals, and confirm the details with your provider.
- Does First Memory Midwifery offer water birth?
- Water birth isn't mentioned in the public information we have for First Memory Midwifery. If a birthing tub matters to you, ask the facility directly — options change, and our data may not capture everything they offer.
- Does First Memory Midwifery accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (612) 387-7836 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
