Where to find Grand Rapids Midwifery
What parents say
10/10 recommend Grand Rapids midwifery! Sarah was my postpartum doula and she helped me more than words can describe. She gave so much support and guidance with breastfeeding (more than the IBCLCs I saw). She figured out my little one had oral ties and helped give me the knowledge and confidence to EBF.
I truly don’t even know where to begin when it comes to all the positive things we have to say about Sarah. She became our midwife with our second baby after I had a very traumatic birth with my firstborn 6 years before.
I only have one other midwife experience to compare this one to… but I feel confident that the experience with Sarah and Lauryn is truly one of a kind. My husband and I (and our son!) always felt a more personal touch from the moment we met Sarah.
After having several hospital births that went against everything I wanted and sick of fighting with docs/nurses about what I wanted and feeling like a prisoner at hospitals, I looked into going with a midwife for baby #5.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Grand Rapids Midwifery a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Grand Rapids Midwifery is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Grand Rapids Midwifery about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Grand Rapids Midwifery offer water birth?
- Their own website mentions water birth or birthing tubs. Tub availability can change and eligibility depends on your situation, so confirm directly with the facility and your provider.
- Does Grand Rapids Midwifery accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call +1 616-426-9035 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
