Where to find Island Birth House
What parents say
Louise walked me through my first birth with a 3 day long exhausting labor. It was amazing having her as a steady support. Throughout the whole pregnancy she took the time to explain things, guide me, and give me resources.
Louise was my midwife when I delivered my fourth child and her attentiveness and bedside manners were everything I could have hoped for. Appointments could have been over coffee, she was so personable. During my delivery I never felt like I needed to hurry or that I was out of place.
I highly recommend Louise! She supported me through 2 pregnancies and was wonderful throughout both experiences. She is thorough, professional, and takes the time to listen/answer questions. She made every appointment feel comfortable and enjoyable, even when I brought my 2 young children along.
Louise was my midwife for prenatal care and my home birth. Although I unfortunately needed to be transferred, she stayed with me every step of the way and advocated for me in the hospital. She was always available via txt and call with all my questions and concerns.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Island Birth House a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Island Birth House is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Island Birth House about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Island Birth House offer water birth?
- Their own website mentions water birth or birthing tubs. Tub availability can change and eligibility depends on your situation, so confirm directly with the facility and your provider.
- Does Island Birth House accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (904) 900-0900 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
