“This was my second VBAC after 2 c-sections so these things were important to me.”
“The prenatal appointments were usually 45-60 minutes long which allowed me time to express all of my concerns and receive feedback on how to help alleviate them.”
“Through our pregnancy visits, labor and delivery, and postpartum care, they answered all of my husband's and my questions with professional and educated advice and suggestions.”

What parents say
TL/DR: 10/10 recommend. We had a wonderful experience as first time parents having a home birth with this midwifery team in June, 2023! From the first Zoom conversation with Ildiko to our last postpartum visit, we've enjoyed all of the interactions and felt very cared for by these ladies.
I found out I was pregnant super early with baby #4 and interviewed miltiple midwifery groups in the Hampton Roads area. After my interview with Meraki I knew I was going with them right away. Just from the interview alone I felt I was not just another client to them. They genuinely cared.
Awesome Midwives! They swooped in when I was about to receive a c section to my breeched baby! But guess what MM said it’s possible to have a breeched birth in my home with no meds! Haha GUESS WHAT! I sure done did that thing!
Great experience, absolutely professional and knowledgeable but still very family oriented. Definitely will be partnering with them for future kids.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Meraki Midwives a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Meraki Midwives is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Meraki Midwives about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Meraki Midwives offer water birth?
- Water birth isn't mentioned in the public information we have for Meraki Midwives. If a birthing tub matters to you, ask the facility directly — options change, and our data may not capture everything they offer.
- Does Meraki Midwives accept insurance or Medicaid?
- Their public listing or website mentions insurance or Medicaid. Coverage varies by plan and by service, so verify your specific plan directly with the facility and your insurer before you commit.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (757) 337-1329 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
