What parents say
The team at MI Birth is amazing- I had a great experience having their care for my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum visits! Hold on to your pants, because I loved my experience with this team so much that this review is going to be a long one.
3 months ago I delivered my second baby at home with the help of Tara and Anna from MI Birth Midwifery. I had a wonderful experience and everything I could have asked for! The entire team was attentive and welcoming throughout my pregnancy, respectful of every decision I made.
It’s hard to put into words how amazing my experience was having a home birth with MI Birth Midwifery. This was my first baby and I was blessed enough to have a healthy baby girl at home at 41 and 5, 10.4 lbs and couldn’t have done it without Tara and Crystal’s care as well as their students.
2 months ago I second birth with Tara as my midwife. My first was at a birthing center with another company, this time I gave birth in the comfort of my home surrounded by lovely midwives and student midwives.
Frequently asked questions
- Is MI Birth Midwifery a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Their public listing categorizes them as midwife, not a hospital maternity unit. Ask them directly where births take place and how they coordinate with hospitals, and confirm the details with your provider.
- Does MI Birth Midwifery offer water birth?
- Their own website mentions water birth or birthing tubs. Tub availability can change and eligibility depends on your situation, so confirm directly with the facility and your provider.
- Does MI Birth Midwifery accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (313) 351-5331 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
