What parents say
Delivered baby #3 with them. After having babies 1 and 2 with an OB in the hospital, this change was night and day. Their care and companion my entire pregnancy was amazing. Very prompt at calling back and I loved that they do blood work at the office.
I tell everyone that I can, if you want to have a natural birth you absolutely have to choose a midwife and birthing center. I have given birth twice now with MNJ. My first baby in 2023 and my second in 2025 just 3 months ago. The Midwives of NJ were phenomenal providers.
I had the most wonderful birth experience working with the midwives of New Jersey! They delivered my first baby at home in 2023, and I'm currently a patient with my second baby. Each midwife really takes the time to answer questions and listen to my and my husband's concerns.
A completely different atmosphere and experience than anywhere else. From the genuine one on one care and long appointments, to the education behind every step throughout each trimester , I cannot imagine going elsewhere for care.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Midwives of New Jersey a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Midwives of New Jersey is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Midwives of New Jersey about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Midwives of New Jersey offer water birth?
- Water birth or birthing tubs come up in their public listing or reviews. Tub availability can change and eligibility depends on your situation, so confirm directly with the facility and your provider.
- Does Midwives of New Jersey accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (908) 509-1801 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
