Where The Birthing Place works
What parents say
My wife Taylor and I are brand new parents and have spent the last 3 weeks with Myla and her team and are incredibly appreciative of all the new information that we’ve learned together! Thank you again!
I took a 3-part birthing class with Myla from The Birthing Place and it was fantastic! For context, I also took a birthing course offered by my hospital (conducted by an L&D nurse) and it was not the same.
My partner and I took a comfort and coping strategies for labor class with Alicia and Myla. The class was amazing. Even though it was over zoom, the class was very engaging, fun and hands on as if it was in person.
Their birthing class series was amazing, very thorough and informative. As a first time expecting mom I wanted to be as prepared as possible and taking birthing classes with TBP taught me so much, I feel as about as comfortable as a first time mom can feel.
Frequently asked questions
- Is The Birthing Place a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- The Birthing Place is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask The Birthing Place about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does The Birthing Place offer water birth?
- Water birth isn't mentioned in the public information we have for The Birthing Place. If a birthing tub matters to you, ask the facility directly — options change, and our data may not capture everything they offer.
- Does The Birthing Place accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- Where does The Birthing Place work?
- They're a service-area practice based in New York, New York — rather than a single facility address, they serve families across the area. Ask whether your location falls inside their coverage when you inquire.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Reach out through their website — use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
