Where to find Chicago Family Picnic
What parents say
My partner and I had a wonderful experience with the birthing, breastfeeding, and newborn classes at Family Picnic. Sue and Rebecca prepared us with the knowledge and awareness we needed going into the process of having our first child.
Family Picnic is a great place. I took a birthing class there which was helpful and inclusive. It focused on evidence based techniques including stretches. I also joined a mom and baby group there after the birth of my child and found my people.
Loved our childbirth weekend intensive with Leila. Very informative and empowering. Leila also ended up being our day-of doula and was wonderful at taking care of us and keeping the energy light and positive. Had such positive experiences with Chicago picnic that we plan to do the mommy and baby group in January!
My Husband and I attended a 5-week parenting class at Family Picnic. It was highly educational, a wonderful, welcoming environment, and the instructor, Rebecca Brown, was both knowledgeable and approachable.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Chicago Family Picnic a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Chicago Family Picnic is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Chicago Family Picnic about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Chicago Family Picnic offer water birth?
- Water birth isn't mentioned in the public information we have for Chicago Family Picnic. If a birthing tub matters to you, ask the facility directly — options change, and our data may not capture everything they offer.
- Does Chicago Family Picnic accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (872) 204-5787 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
