What parents say
I had a scheduled induction at the birthing center here. Overrall great experience! Nurses were very attentive, informative, and advocated for me whenever necessary or when certain doctors tried to derail my birth experience.
Our baby unexpectedly came a few days early, and we arrived around 5am on a weekend day. Just before going back to the O.R., pretty much everyone's shift was changing (7am). I have 2 main points for writing this review. 1) Communication is key.
I just had my first child here couple days ago and have to say this was an AMAZING experience . Throughout my pregnancy I received care from dukes women health primarily brier creek and loved all my doctors especially Dr. Meredith Hoover who eased all my worries and overthinking and over googling lol .
Amazing staff and wonderful experience! Went in on Wednesday and gave birth on Thursday. Loved our nurse Caitlin, she is so sweet and was right there when we needed her, and made me feel so much better when I was in pain. She is an amazing nurse! All the nurses were amazing!
Frequently asked questions
- Is Duke Birthing Center a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Duke Birthing Center is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Duke Birthing Center about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Duke Birthing Center offer water birth?
- Water birth isn't mentioned in the public information we have for Duke Birthing Center. If a birthing tub matters to you, ask the facility directly — options change, and our data may not capture everything they offer.
- Does Duke Birthing Center accept insurance or Medicaid?
- Their public listing or website mentions insurance or Medicaid. Coverage varies by plan and by service, so verify your specific plan directly with the facility and your insurer before you commit.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call +1 919-681-5741 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
