What parents say
We love Caroline and Held! We had baby #3 a few months ago (our second homebirth) and did our care with Caroline. Lubbock has so many great options for care now and I am so thankful Held is one of them!
Choosing Held Midwifery for the birth of our second baby girl was one of the best decisions we have ever made. With our first, I had a natural, completely unmedicated hospital birth—but it was hard fought and far from the experience we wanted. This time, we looked for something different.
I am currently in my third trimester and have had my prenatal care done through Held. My husband and I have both loved the care we’ve received thus far. Caroline is very kind and knowledgeable and makes us feel very comfortable. It has been such a peaceful process for these soon to be first time parents.
I have had an incredible experience at Held. Caroline is an exceptional provider. She was willing to go through my previous birth records from my first birth, line by line, over several of our appointments so that we could improve my labor experience for my second baby.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Held Midwifery & Wellness a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Held Midwifery & Wellness is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Held Midwifery & Wellness about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Held Midwifery & Wellness offer water birth?
- Their own website mentions water birth or birthing tubs. Tub availability can change and eligibility depends on your situation, so confirm directly with the facility and your provider.
- Does Held Midwifery & Wellness accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call +1 806-224-2800 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
