What parents say
I delivered my daughter (6th child) on Christmas evening. The entire staff from midwives to nurses were amazing. Emily, happy, barbara, and Eliza stood out the most in my mind for how much they care and love their job. They were attentive and genuinely cared for me and my daughter lilly.
Such an amazing experience here. The doctor's, nurses and all support staff were welcoming, caring, nurturing, calming and supportive. They always made sure I was comfortable with what was happening and let me lead how I wanted my experience to go while guiding me through.
The only reason there aren’t more 5 star reviews here is because everyone is totally sleep deprived. We were recommended the birth center(and midwives) by tons of friends and our experience totally exceeded expectations.
I wish I could give Mercy Birthing and Midwives 10 stars. Transferred here at 32 weeks and it was a gift to be cared for by the amazing midwives and nurses in this hospital. The four midwives, Shiam and reception and MA Beth are such professionals. My appointments were on time and I never once felt rushed.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Northern Light Mercy Birthing a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Northern Light Mercy Birthing is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Northern Light Mercy Birthing about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Northern Light Mercy Birthing offer water birth?
- Water birth isn't mentioned in the public information we have for Northern Light Mercy Birthing. If a birthing tub matters to you, ask the facility directly — options change, and our data may not capture everything they offer.
- Does Northern Light Mercy Birthing accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call +1 207-553-6300 or use the website link above, or schedule a tour directly with the button above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
