What this center offers
“I was there for 5 days total and every nurse and midwife I encountered was very well informed and very quick to react to any problems or request with a smile on their face.”
“Unfortunately, my son did have to spend 6 days in the NICU, but all of the nurses and doctors who took care of him did an amazing job.”

I had the best experience here. I was 41 weeks when I was induced and even though my labor had complications and nothing went the way I wanted it to (because of the unforeseen complications) the staff was exceptional from start to finish.
I have had 2 children at this hospital, and I absolutely loved it. My son was born on April 30th 2022, and all of the staff was absolutely amazing. Olga was my nurse through my short, hard, fast labor, and she was seriously my saving grace.
I cannot even express how appreciative I am of the care I received throughout my stay at the Birthing Center. The staff was extremely kind and caring, and made sure my husband and I were comfortable throughout our stay.
I don’t normally leave reviews, but I had to after having my baby here. I honestly don’t think I could have had a better experience. I ended up having an unplanned c-section after carefully talking it over with my doctor and midwife. My baby was born safely and we were taken care of amazingly by the nurses.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Salem Health Family Birth Center a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Salem Health Family Birth Center is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Salem Health Family Birth Center about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Salem Health Family Birth Center offer water birth?
- Water birth isn't mentioned in the public information we have for Salem Health Family Birth Center. If a birthing tub matters to you, ask the facility directly — options change, and our data may not capture everything they offer.
- Does Salem Health Family Birth Center accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (503) 814-3637 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
