Where to find Swedish Birth Center
What parents say
I wanted to take a moment to write a review for Swedish Birthing Center - I was put off by the negative reviews I had read here, when deciding where to deliver my child and in the end we decided to stick with Swedish because this is where my amazing OB team delivers.
I had wonderful top-notch prenatal care at Swedish Midwifery (Ballard). Emily, Megan, Lisa were truly wonderful. Emily Hazan, midwife, and nurses who were present during delivery, Leah, Gretchen, Kelsey, and Natalie were amazing, compassionate, and kind people and I had a great birthing experience.
Thank you for this amazing and beautiful experience!! The care and attention given to my son and I was a true experience! I was alittle hesitant because of the bad reviews but my siblings were born at this hospital same campus and decided to give birth and hope for the best!
Overall, my experience birthing here in October 2023 was great. I had one of the most incredible labor and delivery nurses (shoutout to Nurse Colleen) when I was induced after 41W1D. Nurse Colleen was incredibly supportive.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Swedish Birth Center a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Swedish Birth Center is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Swedish Birth Center about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Swedish Birth Center offer water birth?
- Water birth isn't mentioned in the public information we have for Swedish Birth Center. If a birthing tub matters to you, ask the facility directly — options change, and our data may not capture everything they offer.
- Does Swedish Birth Center accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (206) 386-6000 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
