I wanted to take a moment to write a review for Swedish Birthing Center - I was put off by the negative reviews I had read here, when deciding where to deliver my child and in the end we decided to stick with Swedish because this is where my amazing OB team delivers.
My wife gave birth here, everything was great, the only problem was the Credena Heath pharmacy next to the Starbuck. I came there to take Vitamin D-3 for my newborn which doctor and Nurse told me to do so. The Asian Lady who was working there told me that all the baby medicine sent to Safeway Pharmacy.
I have delivered at Swedish FH twice via my wonderful OB at Northwest Women's Healthcare. Wanted to comment specifically on the condition of some postpartum recovery rooms here.
Recently had my second here (as well as my first) and it was a great experience. Was scheduled for induction and Dr Zhou and nurse Sophie were fantastic. Very knowledgeable and had a calming presence.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Swedish Birth Center a freestanding birth center or a hospital unit?
- Swedish Birth Center is a freestanding birth center — a facility separate from a hospital. Freestanding birth centers typically serve low-risk pregnancies and have a hospital-transfer plan in place; ask Swedish Birth Center about theirs, and confirm with your provider that a birth-center birth fits your situation.
- Does Swedish Birth Center offer water birth?
- Water birth isn't mentioned in the public information we have for Swedish Birth Center. If a birthing tub matters to you, ask the facility directly — options change, and our data may not capture everything they offer.
- Does Swedish Birth Center accept insurance or Medicaid?
- We couldn't confirm insurance details from public information. Ask the facility which plans they accept, and check with your insurer about coverage for the type of birth care you're planning.
- How do I get in touch or see the facility?
- Call (206) 386-6000 or use the website link above. Most birth centers and hospital maternity units offer tours — it's the best way to get your questions answered before you decide.
